The Hinckley School is consulting with the local community on a proposal to reduce the Pupil Admission Number (PAN).
The proposal is to reduce the Year 7 PAN from 230 to 180 with effect from 2026. For students who already have a place at the school there will be no change. Careful consideration of place planning forecasting has taken place to confirm that a reduction in PAN would not cause any detrimental impact. A PAN of 180 would be sufficient to meet the demand for places and to allow the school to focus on improving outcomes for all learners.
The admissions arrangements, in terms of catchment area and oversubscription criteria, will not change. The current admissions policy can be viewed on the school’s website.
The Schools Admissions Code 2021 sets out a requirement for a statutory consultation where there is a proposal to vary the Published Admission Number (PAN) of a school.
The purpose of consultation is to ensure transparency and openness on the contents of a proposal and allow all stakeholders, including parents and carers to make a representation that will be considered as part of the determination of the proposal. Your feedback is important to us and we welcome your views on the proposed changes.
The consultation period will run for six weeks and will take place between Monday 11 November 2024 to Sunday 22 December 2024.
Anyone wishing to respond to the consultation should contact the school by Sunday 22nd December, in writing to: Miss Lisa Hackett, PA to the Headteacher, The Hinckley School, Butt Lane, Hinckley, Leicestershire, LE10 1LE or via email lhackett@thehinckleyschool.co.uk
After the consultation has closed, all feedback will be considered before a final decision is made.
If you have any questions or require any further information, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
